JAI colour challenge

Card: whisper white, daffodil delight, so saffron
Ink: daffodil delight marker
Accessories: beautiful wings embosslit, big shot, petals-a-plenty embossing folder, pearls

When I saw the JAI challenge for this week, I wanted to enter something even though I almost don't have any whisper white cardstock in my stash right now!  A problem when the challenge is to just add daffodil delight, so saffron and whisper white!  I only had a small butterfly in so saffron, too, which made this challenge quite the challenge!  It there, even if you it's had to spot!

This is my take on the challenge, and it's a small 3" card that I have embossed.  I decided to add the rest of the butterflies with a pearl inside.  I used my marker to bring out the flower stamens, so there is no actual stamping on this project, either.  I think it has a fresh, spring feel, which I'm needing right now :-)

Mainly music gift

Card: confetti white, blushing bride, pear pizzazz, very vanilla
Ink: blushing bride, pear pizzazz
Stamp set: mixed bunch
Accessories: petals-a-plenty embossing folder, big shot, blossom punch, pearl, vellum

Someone at my church asked me last Sunday if I would do a wee card for the Mainly Music Mothers for Mother's Day...  Didn't have much time, but with some help (yes, I enlisted the help of my sister!) I made 30 of these wee cards.  There is a scripture verse inside, which I printed off in vellum.  I was pretty happy when I had decided on the designed as I was then able to prep them all, and I've just managed to finish them!  It's been a small labour of love, and I hope the mothers will treasure the verse that is included.

I used the rock 'n' roll technique to stamp the blossom, then added some layers, with one layer being embossed.  The blossom centre just lifts it, with the pearl.

JAI challenge - just add mother

Card: rich razzleberry, old olive, early expresso, whisper white
Ink: rich razzleberry, old olive
Stamp set(s): because I care, well scripted
Accessories: rich razzleberry satin ribbon, dazzling diamonds, frost white shimmer paint

Over at Just Add Ink, the challenge this week was to just add mother.   I wanted to try out the mother of pearl technique, and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to create something beautiful to honour my Mum.  I love my first attempt at this new technique - the frost white shimmer paint gives the perfect sheen to the whisper white cardstock.  I decided to give the flower some bling with dazzling diamonds, and I couldn't resist adding some ribbon.  I'm hoping Mum will love it (shhsh! don't tell her!).

Blossom birthday

Card: pear pizazz, blushing bride, confetti white, whisper white
Ink: pear pizazz, blushing bride
Stamp set(s): creative elements, so happy for you, mixed bunch
Accessories: perfect polka dot embossing folder, top note die cut, big shot, blushing bride poly-stitched ribbon

A lady from church has a birthday on Saturday, but I gave this card to her tonight to help her celebrate, so I don't mind sharing this project.  I've used the top note to cut out the confetti white on the front - cool technique where you cut the main shape, then turn it 90 degrees and cut again to create an unusual shape.  I've just quickly stamped and mounted a scrunched up blossom, embossed the blushing bride, and stamped inside on confetti white (the confetti has a gorgeous flecked look).  The pearl and ribbon were added to finish.  A quick and easy project to make.  Happy birthday Gayle!

Birthday butterfly

Card: pool party, calypso coral, whisper white
Ink: pool party, calypso coral
Stamp set(s): creative elements, well scripted
Accessories: blender pen, vintage wallpaper embossing folder, big shot, pool party ruffled ribbon, pearls

This card just came together which was cool as it often takes me ages to make the decisions about colours, stamps and design...  I used my blender pen to add some subtle colour to the main image, and the ruffled ribbon and pearls add that touch of 'wow'.  I"m loving the pool party and calypso coral, and the fresh, bright look of this project.  Enjoy!

Hello blossom

Card: tempting turquoise, daffodil delight, whisper white
DSP: real red DSP
Ink: tempting turquoise, daffodil delight, real red, lucky limeade markers
Stamp set(s): hello blossom, so happy for you
Accessories: ice-cream parlor buttons, ice-cream parlor ribbon, petals-plenty embossing folder, big shot

I wanted to ink up my new stamp, the single stamp Hello Blossom.  I think this stamp is a 'happy' stamp, so I've used 'happy', bright colours on this project.  The embossing, ribbon and buttons all add texture and interest to a simple but fun card.  I've also added a white panel inside with a single sentiment from the 'So happy for you' stamp set.  It'll be added to my stash for the right occasion!

Door prize idea!

Card: whisper white
DSP: everyday enchantment DSP (SAB)
Ink: pool party, calypso coral, lucky limeade markers
Accessories: lucky limeade and calypso coral ribbon

In preparation for my next workshop this weekend, I've made these cute boxes up to give away as door prizes.  I've folded a 6" square piece of dsp, added small holes at the points and tied with ribbon before before putting some chocolate-coated almonds inside - yum!  These were fun and easy to make with everything co-ordinating beautifully.  I loved colouring the stamp with my markers - I'm planning on demonstrating this technique at the workshop...fun!

Pinwheel medley

Card: calypso coral, pool party, soft suede, whisper white
Ink: calypso coral
Stamp set: create a cupcake
Accessories: sweet shop jelly bean brad, vintage wallpaper embossing folder, big shot, calypso coral ruffled ribbon, petal cone die, sponge

When I saw this card on Dawn's website, I just had to CASE it.  This is my take on her pinwheel - I would do it differently next time, but I think was a great first attempt!  I'm loving the jelly bean brads - they come in a pack of 16, with 4 each of 4 designs, as illustrated in the new mini catalogue.  I have added some texture by using the cardstock on part of the vintage wallpaper embossing folder, and the ribbon and sentiment add that special touch.

The pinwheel technique is super easy to create, and I can show you and your friends if you book a workshop with me!  And you can order from the new mini catalogue through me.  There's something there for everyone!

Wisteria blossom

Card: lucky limeade, wisteria wonder, whisper white, confetti white
Ink: luck limeade, wisteria wonder
Stamp set(s): mixed bunch, well scripted
Accessories: blossom punch, lucky limeade brad, wisteria wonder ruffled ribbon, lucky limeade ribbon, vellum, top note die cut, big shot

I wanted to try out a new technique I had seen, and I love wisteria and limeade, so I decided to bring these together in this project.  I cut a top note with the big shot, then turned it 90 degrees and cut it again so it created the cool square with the fancy edge.  I'm sure you'll see more of this soon...!  I stamped a blossom and used the rock n roll technique to bring in some of the lucky limeade around the wisteria wonder.  I added some torn vellum and a mixture of ribbon, along with a brad.  Of course, I had to add an inside panel with a sentiment...done!

Happy Birthday Denise!

Card: pool party, calypso coral, whisper white
Ink: pool party, calypso coral, island indigo
Stamp set(s): mixed bunch, well scripted
Accessories: blossom punch, pool party brad, 1" circle punch, 3/4" circle punch

This is a CASE from the make n take at a fun day for demos in Wellington I went to last weekend. Not too sure if it was the lovely Paula or Sharlene that designed this one...! Denise is my sponsor child in Togo, West Africa, and it's her birthday today!  I know, it'll get to her very late, but I've been thinking of her all day, and I want to send big hugs and wishes for her birthday - it's never too late!  I'm thinking I'll send her some stickers as well...  Hopefully she'll love it!

I stuck everything down, and then realised that we had embossed the white panel with the perfect polk dot embossing folder for the make n take, and I forgot to do that here...doh!  My special take on the project :-)  I've also moved the sentiment from the bottom of the panel to the top (no 'white space there!).  A very simple card you could very easily demo at a workshop, or prep for a make n take at a workshop.  Happy Birthday Denise!
