When I saw this card on Dawn's website, I just had to CASE it.  This is my take on her pinwheel - I would do it differently next time, but I think was a great first attempt!  I'm loving the jelly bean brads - they come in a pack of 16, with 4 each of 4 designs, as illustrated in the new mini catalogue.  I have added some texture by using the cardstock on part of the vintage wallpaper embossing folder, and the ribbon and sentiment add that special touch.

I had some scrap of the gorgeous new sweet shop DSP, so I decided to use it up for a cute, bright, whimsy birthday card.  I love the colours of the new DSP, and the create a cupcake stamp set goes really well here, even if I made an ice-cream cone instead of a cupcake!  Another taste of what's in the new mini!  Grab yours before it's too late!

Just yesterday, I was looking for different card folds online, and found this one, which I wanted to have a go at. It's a tri-fold card with a twist... The main pool party base has been scored into three, but then the outside squares have been scored corner to corner and folded back to create two triangles. It's a little hard to explain, but I'm hoping you'll get some idea of what I've done from the photos. I have attached some square layers to each triangle, so it looks like it's a square card, but when you open it up, there are some "surprises", which is quite cool. Then, I have stamped and attached an inside panel. I've sponged all the edges with soft suede to give it a "worn, vintage" feel. Hope you like it!

Turquoise Happy Birthday

I decided to try the sketch challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday today. The sketch was quite simple, but one I enjoyed using to create this birthday card. I'm not in love with tempting turquoise, but with the little splash of real red and whisper white, it's ok here...! I stamped on the DSP to begin with, then brayered on the bottom of the whisper white panel and stamped the images and sentiment. I sponged around the edges of the DSP and whisper white in tempting turquoise, which gives it a toned down look. The inside panel is sponged with real red and a single image has been stamped on the corner. As I say, the ribbon and pearls make this "pop"!

I whipped this one up tonight using some scraps I had lying around...a great way to use up all those pesky little pieces of carstock! I didn't want anything with too much bling, but I know some men-folk that actually do like some bling, so I opted for a few rhinestones. My brayer finished off the scene, and the sponging toned down the edges just a little bit.

Over at Hand Stamped Sentiments, I've entered this card for a challenge to create a project using a picture as inspiration - cupcakes! Love the dazzling diamonds and buttons as sprinkles on the enlarged cupcake, and I think pool party works really well with melon mambo. Some embossing and a sentiment finish this card off nicely - sweetness all 'round!

I know, I know...it's been ages! But I'm back! Yay!

My very special Mum had a birthday a few weeks ago, and while I had a gift for her, it took me awhile to decide on a card to make. I was really pleased with how this came out - I think it was a sketch I had for a challenge, but didn't have the chance to submit it to the challenge... I love my brayer, and the colour combo is just delish! Mum loved it, too!

I decided to enter this week's JAI challenge - a sketch! I embossed DSP, gave my big shot quite a work-out, and just had to add some dazzling diamonds... What do you think?

I know I'm using my favourite colour combo here - again! - but I had fun with this, and love the texture of the embossing. The sketch was pretty simple, but for this card, I think less is more. It was the first time I had imbossed DSP, and I quite like the result - I'm pretty sure I'll have to try this again sometime :-)

Little treats

Someone at work was leaving the other day, so I decided to make a wee card for her, then another work colleague was having a rough day, so I thought I would cheer her up with a wee card...as you do! It was lots of fun surprising these lovely people!

I just had to go with my favourite colour combo again (poppy parade and blushing bride):

For the first card, I brayered (gotta love it!) poppy parade on whisper white, stamped the flower images, used the embosslit to make the butterfly, and wrapped it all up with linen thread.

For the second card, I made a top note and cut it in half, stamped & cut out the cupcake images, and dazzled the cherry with dazzling diamonds to finish it off.

Team swap

My Stampin Up! team met up over coffee last Sunday afternoon for a catch up, and to do swaps. We were challenged to use at least one thing from the current Mini Catalogue. This was the swap I came up with:

Card: Whisper White, Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride
Ink: Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride
Stamps: Create a Cupcake (from the new mini)
Ribbon: linen thread
Other: Build a cupcake punch, dazzling diamonds, 2-way glue pen

I used my brayer to roll poppy parade ink on the top, and blusing bride ink on the bottom of whisper white card. I stamped happy birthday, then stamped the cupcake and cherry, and punched out the shapes of the cupcake. Finished off with dazzling diamonds (the cherry on top!) and linen thread.
