Fun with my brayer

I decided to have a play with my brayer, and loved the results:

Card: pear pizzazz, whisper white
Ink: pear pizzazz
Stamps: Cottage garden
DSP: pear pizzazz
Other: big shot, textured impressions embossing folder, brayer, pearls, scallop trim border punch

I brayered the embossing folder and then embossed whisper white card to get the really cool effect on top of the DSP. I also brayered the main artwork, and stamped the flower. I punched a border on the DSP at the bottom (you can't see it particularly well), and then I stamped the sentiment and layered it on pear pizzazz card. The pearls add the finishing touch.

I was going to enter this into a challenge for JAI, but I didn't have the rest of the colours for this week's challenge... Had lots of fun with it, though!

If you would like to learn how to brayer, contact me, and book a workshop and I can show you how!

Sympathy card

I had a friend who lost her brother a few weeks ago. I just had to send her a sympathy card. I hope she got a cheerful surprise when she got it in the post...

Card: rich razzleberry, concord crush, whisper white, in colour dsp
Stamps: awash with flowers, so happy for you
Ink: rich razzleberry
Other: textured impressions embossing folder, big shot, sponge

I used the recent card sketch over at JAI to create this card, but didn't submit it for the challenge (I did a 12x12 scrapbook page instead!).

JAI Challenge

This past week, I decided to enter a project for the latest JAI (Just Add Ink) challenge. This link is well worth a look for ideas and inspiration!

Card: crumb cake, early expresso
DSP: Autumn Spice (from the current mini) Stamp sets: bliss, defining alphabet
Ink: early expresso, soft suede
Other: 1 1/4' grosgrain striped early expresso ribbon, top note die cut, big shot, sponge, beautiful wings embosslits, pearls, black pen

This is a 12x12" scrapbook page, which is what I love to create, and I'm happy with the end result. It highlights sponging, stamping, the big shot and pearls (loving these!). It did help to have a sketch to work with, and I think it worked well for these pics of Chester (he's hilarous!).

Happy International Nurses Day!

As my sister is a nurse, we're celebrating International Nurses Day today! Of course, I had to make a card for my sister, and I finished this off last night - without her even knowing about it! I love surprises! I had this waiting on the breakfast table this morning for her...

Card: concord crush, whisper white, real red
Ink: concord crush, real red
Stamps: defining alphabet, so happy for you (SAB)
Ribbon: concord crush 1/2" stitched-poly ribbon
Other: scallop trim border punch, textured impressions embossing folder, big shot, white gel pen

I don't think Stampin Up! have come up with a stamp of a nurse, so I've kept this card real simple. Loving my big shot and the embossing folders that Stampin Up! have produced - they give any project so much dimension and texture!

Happy Mother's Day!

It was late last week when I realised Mother's Day was coming up, and I still needed to send my mother a special card... I decided to stick with the colour combo of my recent team swaps, and came up with this card for Mum.

I decorated the inside, too:

Card: poppy parade, blushing bride, whisper white

Ink: poppy parade, blushing bride

Stamps: well scripted, so happy for you, pocket silhouettes

Other: scallop trim border punch, linen thread, brayer

I brayered the top of whisper white card, stamped the flower across the bottom, and stamped the sentiment. For the inside, I punched the bottom edge with the scallop trim border punch (lovin' this!) and stamped the small flower across the bottom, repeating the colour combo of poppy parade and blushing bride. Mum was thrilled with it, and rang me as soon as she got it in the post! So glad it got there in time!

Team swap

My Stampin Up! team met up over coffee last Sunday afternoon for a catch up, and to do swaps. We were challenged to use at least one thing from the current Mini Catalogue. This was the swap I came up with:

Card: Whisper White, Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride
Ink: Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride
Stamps: Create a Cupcake (from the new mini)
Ribbon: linen thread
Other: Build a cupcake punch, dazzling diamonds, 2-way glue pen

I used my brayer to roll poppy parade ink on the top, and blusing bride ink on the bottom of whisper white card. I stamped happy birthday, then stamped the cupcake and cherry, and punched out the shapes of the cupcake. Finished off with dazzling diamonds (the cherry on top!) and linen thread.

If you like this card, contact me to book a workshop and I can show you how to make one for yourself!

My first workshop

The other day, I was playing around with some scraps that were sitting on my desk, and I came up with this card:

Card: Concord Crush, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Concord Crush, Real Red
Stamp Set: SAB Punch Bunch
Ribbon: Concord Crush 1/2" stitched-poly ribbon
Other: Scallop Trim border punch, Top Note die cut, Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, Big Shot, dimensionals

I was pleased how it came out... What do you think? I ran my ink pad over the embossed top note, bringing out the texture -very cool! I'm thinking it could be in celebration of the Royal Wedding - you know, red, white and blue...!

I also planned my first workshop, and ran it last Saturday - yay! I designed this make n take:

Card: Old Olive, Very Vanilla
Ink: Old Olive, Concord Crush
Stamp Set: Poket Sillhouettes
Ribbon: Concord Crush 1/2" stitched-poly ribbon

It's a very simple design that was easy to demonstrate and create, but it was interesting to see other people's "take" on it as they created one for themselves.

Looking forward to my next workshop!
